Full Size cars or Standard cars are also another choice of car sizes to rent from a rental place. Before I go into more details, let me quickly answer your question of what is the difference between Full size cars and standard cars. Load capacity is the difference. Avis describes it best like this – standard cars can have up to two large bags and two small bags, whereas, full size cars can have up to four medium bags. And Hertz has differences as – standard cars can have up to two large suitcase and one small suitcase, and full size cars can have up to two large suitcase and one small suitcase. Another difference would be in the slight differences of gas consumption where standard cars would be more efficient in gas consumption as to full size, and the similarities is that both cars can fit up five people.
Standard cars would be more like the Hyundai Sonata GL and Volkswagen Jetta, and full size cars would be more like the Chevrolet Malibu and the Toyota Camry.
So this is my most preferred size of car to rent. And the reason for that is the roomy space in a car, I love to man-spread in a good car. The full-size car is sits in the mid range of car rental cost, considering you have medium size and small size cars on the cheaper range and then luxury and the SUVs on the expensive range.
The gas price for full size cars seems reasonable and this is my opinion only. And to be honest the line between a full-sized car and what would be a premium car is getting thinner by the year. With Budget car rental, they have the Chevrolet Malibu as a full size car and a Chevrolet Impala as a premium. So now you look at both cars and the exterior body looks similar and so is the interior, so you are pretty much getting your value for money with the full-size cars. Now that may differ with other car rental place – I remember walking into Hertz to get a rental and all they had was the Toyota Camry and Nissan Maxima which are truly great cars but not my preference.
I love a good European car and if I can’t step into one then I’ll settle for an American car, exception for Lexus and Infiniti.
So if you’re a big person like myself, then you better off treating yourself to a full-size car and if you’re luck you just might get an upgrade to a premium car for free.
So I explained earlier that for full size cars or standard cars you can expect to get a Hyndai Sonata GL, Toyota Camry, Nissan Maxima, Chevrolet Malibu.
