Last weekend Kirsty and I decided to hire a car and take a road trip to the beautiful region of Alsace to escape Paris for the weekend. We stayed in Strasbourg, and visited Colmar for a day trip.
Strasbourg is the capital city of the Grand Est region, formerly Alsace, in northeastern France. Near the German border, there is an amazing blend of German and French food, architecture and culture. Known for being the formal seat of the European Parliament, as well as its stunning Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame and ‘Petite France’ historic quarter.
Colmar is a town in the north-eastern region of France, also near the German border. Its beautiful old town and ‘La Petite Venise’ has cobblestone streets lined with stunning timbered medieval and early Renaissance buildings.
