Ed (@edbolian) loves manual transmissions like most car enthusiasts but they are getting rarer and rarer. In today’s video, Ed explains why that is. Butler Tire is …
Most people do not know how to drive then ESPECIALLY in high performance cars. MOST PEOPLE CANNOT CHEW BUBBLE GUM AND WALK…..LOL
Manuals make better drivers
Honestly semi automatic is the way to go don’t @ me
Save. The. Manuals.
Manual trans = less texting and driving. End of story
The takeaway: NEVER vote for authoritarianism
It’s just interesting cause if you really think about it, it seems as if the US Government is trying really hard to interfere and not let European and Japanese cars into America and dominate the American car scene. They made a 25 year import rule on almost every older Japanese and European car overseas (not sure how that rule works). You cant get JDM Supras, Skylines, Silvias, and numerous Mercedes and BMW’s even. Its just funny how they try to make so many rules to prevent people from buying foreign cars.
Is that a neon Lacoste in the background
Really love this video!
He's missing one other key component: with the insane HP and high revving engines these modern supercars have, it's really hard to make clutches and synchronizers that offer a streetable experience that isn't either extremely heavy or incredibly notchy.
If everyone drove a manual there would be way less accidents FACT not only can you slow down in event of brake failire but it makes you a better driver overall
At the end of the day, these are toys, and any automatic, no matter how efficient, will never be as fun as a stick.
Unless you're actually racer, driving cars is not about going fast. It's about feeling fast and feeling connected to the car. Manuals do that much better than sequentials.
New buyers are younger and grew up with everything being easier and less work, so blame technology that you wouldn't think of.
Manuals are fun, but with many performance cars capable of sub 3 second 0-60 times and 10 second 1/4's, cars are getting too fast for the average knucklehead to shift and drive quickly and safely. Some cars like the shit ass McLosers, Vipers, Ferraris, Lambos, and Vettes are already known for easily going into a spin and sliding off the road with both hands on the wheel. I mean, who has seen the video of the former GM exec spinning out the ZR1 Pace Car at low speed? How many wrecked Vipers are out there?
Now take one hand off to shift and add the mental distraction of having to try to time the shift with the car being borderline uncontrollable for a normal buyer. Killing your customers used to sell cars, but not the best business model.
Every "save the manuals" guy acts like he has pro-level driving skills and owns a supercar. Keep manuals where they belong, in mileage oriented cars, big rigs, and in Europe. Buyers don't want them here in enough quantity to matter.
P.S. Manuals are MUCH slower, so why would you want a slower performance car? If you want to spend too much to go slow, buy a GT3.
P.P.S. I like manuals, but they're dead.
I could listen to Ed talk about anything.I have only owned manual gear boxes and I feel that the driving experience is enhanced by being more engaged with the car.. Automatics and sequential gear boxes allow certain people to multitask and not really enjoy the driving experience.Just my two cents
More expensive to service an auto smg box vs a manual gearbox. It is a cashcow for dealers.
I prefer Automatics, Manuals are fun but they get old to drive and yet my motorcycles are all manual just when I'm in a car I prefer an automatic.
If you claim to be a car enthusiast and don't drive a manual then you are either a liar or an idiot.
Automatic transmissions are for chicks
I can agree it is difficult dealing with childish trust fund babies. They don’t want it because they want it, they wanted because they think everyone else wants it. No true original opinion. Otherwise they would demand a manual.
6:54 The US government is to blame for the SUV apocalypse in the car world
Let’s be 100% honest. The auto cost way more and the dealers want to make more …… this dude fucks his own mirror when listening to his own voice .
Gay O matic
This is just a gay ass thing that people argue about. Just shut up and live with how the world moves. Making things suck more for the sake of the tiny amount of gear heads is just faggy. You guys can be impressed with other things, quit being such babies lolol. God, listening to people talk about how cars give them orgasms, and how different v8s sound sooooo good, is so fucking disease inducing. Brain rotted is what most people who stick their dicks in car exhausts come off as. Change parts go fast vroom! Children lol
i like manual but i want my super car auto not because is fast because if that clutch gets burned and f. up the gears not only i go broke fixing it. i have to wait long time just for the part to come in and get installed
Rich people are lazy that's what happened
Manual cars are overrated.
They could always use a sequential with a clutch. Similar to a motorcycle. And I think I'd actually enjoy driving it.
9speed autos fucking wrecks manual transmissions
Vinwiki has the worst intro
So how will we have manuals in an electric car?
We dont need to save it…it is literally 100 year old outdated ANTIQUATED technology. You can argue all you want..a TRUE car guy is geared towards performance and numbers…not what feels faster. The numbers are in, manual is slower than automatic now. A real argument is if internal combustion engines will even last the next 10-15 years. With more and more going electric it seems that way..and I still have yet too see a car that can take a Tesla with 100% instant torque output.
Still want a manual doe.
Im just glad Porsche still offers a manual off the showroom floor new car.
Hey Ed(like he's going to see this lol) Today a saw a Yellow Murcielago (spyder I think) with temp tag down in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
One word. Porsche. 🙂
This is soo sad! It feels like someones mother just died or something. Long Live The Manual
It’s 90% spoiled rich brats who want everything handed to them that own these cars. Wtf do you expect
